| Like many of you I have been there and done that to try and get my weight lower, but I was up and down so many times I felt like giving up. I had reached my max 246 lbs, was totally miserable. My job as a real estate agent was becomiing a real chore. I have a friend who was contemplating WLS and I actually tried to talk her out of it. Strange, because today she is 115 pounds lighter and I am almost 80 pounds lighter.
Finally I made an appointment and really got excited, I went through all the hoops only to find out my insurance company would not even consider the surgery. It was an exclusion, I felt like my life was just doomed and I was never going to get this weight off. My husband and I talked for hours about the surgery, he even attended several support group meetings with me. One day he offered to put an equity line of credit (2nd mortgage) on our house so I could have the surgery.
April was a whirl wind of activity but had the RNY and was back home in my own bed within 30 hours. I don't remember alot about the surgery other than I was a little confused from the drugs but within 2 weeks I was in the pool doing water aerobic.
I find that staying focused can sometimes be a little difficult. I try hard to get at least 80 grams of protein a day, try to keep my carbs and fat at 25 grams, drink my 64 ounces of water and exercise 5 days a week (if not more).
My one suggestion is, don't give up - you are worth it, my family is behind me 100% and if I had to do this again for any reason I would be line.
Life is short and since I am 57 years old now I feel that I have a chance to see my grandchildren grown up. |
